The status of Tomtö as an island or a peninsula depends on the criteria of water.
Sometimes, when the tides are low, one can easily walk to the Viking fort on its tip.
Other times, when the waters are abundant, only the birds can reach Tomtö.
On October 22nd 2021 the waters were high. We walked as far as our water shoes would allow us.
There, right where the land becomes water, we dig a hole by the roots of a guardian birch tree, and bury a little ceramic jar.
Next spring, when the waters are low again, we'll try to find it, and see what kind of information the tides, the ground, and the ice have engraved on its surface.
